It was a beautiful sunny day as we set off for our ten hour trip to Val d'Or. The fact that these road trips take long, we just end up driving until we get to our destination. This time, I chose to make stops along the way.
Our first stop, was nearing Amos. This meant another 45 mins of driving to get to our midway point in Val d'Or and I could unwind at our hotel. I usually would just keep on going until I get there, order out and rest for the next leg of my trip for the following day, but this time on a whim, I asked the girls if they would like to stop and look at a tourist spot. One of my girls said: "yes, go ahead" (the other wasn't listening).
The spot was a sign that indicated that there was a covered bridge down a road up ahead. I have always wanted to make that little detour and see the covered bridge and so we did:
We stopped and went to a sushi restaurant in Amos before heading to our hotel in Val d'Or. The next morning, we headed out to do another seven hour drive to our destination of Montreal! Not before making another stop along the way, to see another place I have always wanted to check out. Just before Mont Laurier, there is this big flea Market where in the summer they have all these old furniture on display. |
Our drive home...
We made a planned stop to Costco for a much needed grocery run and then headed north, back home. This time our unplanned stop was to check out a sugar shack in the Laurentians. My only regret was that we already had our lunch and could not enjoy the food offered there, but we did check out the gift shop and got ourselves some maple goodies.
