I decided after canceling our family goosebreak trip (because of unforeseen circumstances - those who know, my poor boy's fractured upper arm), to do a quick trip to the city with just my girls. We had a blast last year and I knew we could have some fun this year as well.
We left early this morning with my used car from Chisasibi. When we got to km 381 to gas up, I noticed my breaks were not doing good. They suddenly gave out... Sorta. I had to press the break hard in order to stop.
Now on the James Bay highway, it's not too bad since it's an isolated road. However, the bigger cities with more traffic and stops to do, I was worried.
We reached Matagami and I called my hubby to help me find a place in Val d'Or to fix my car. In the meantime, I stopped at the local garage to get the car checked. The news was not good. One break line was leaking badly enough that filling the tank with fluid, you can see it would need constant filling.
Another call to hubby and I chose to make it to Amos before getting roadside assistance.
I am glad I did because I burned a yellow/red light being unable to make a full stop.
So after a few calls and planning, I chose to rent a car, get my car towed to Val d'Or and continue on my way to Montreal.
A good nights sleep and I leave Val d'Or in the morning for montreal.
All in all the girls are quite happy with the cute white Ford Fiesta we have. We heading to Montreal in style, they say.
